About:

The Colombian regions where The Chocolate Dream has an impact are characterized by a population exposed to high levels of social and economic vulnerability. In Necoclí, for example, unemployment and illiteracy rates reflect the region's backwardness, reaching 27.6% and 22.7% respectively. The region has a high drop-out rate and a low level of attendance in the education system.

Convinced that an educated person transforms and generates development for him/herself and the surrounding communities, this education project was born with Fundación Luker, one of our most important allies, whose fundamental purpose is to implement innovative methodologies that allow children and young people belonging to 6 rural schools in Necoclí to improve their basic, socio-emotional and technical skills.

The New School model, which has been implemented in the schools of Caribia, Alto Carito, Garitón, Guacamaya, Buenos Aires and Limoncito, comprises three fundamental pillars: interaction, autonomy, and participation. This allows the children to be active in the learning of their classmates through a classroom management model that establishes roles for each work table, motivating the students who are more behind in their learning process to level up with the rest.

The model, adapted to the rural environment and its challenges, seeks to contribute to the generation gap in cocoa-growing regions, through quality education that is complemented by new job opportunities that open up for young people from our various projects.
